ITER is an international collaboration of unprecedented scope, which brings together scientists and engineers from the U. S., Japan, Korea, India, the European Union, Russia, and China working towards the goal of a demonstration of controlled fusion energy. The United States has been tasked with delivering a motional Stark effect diagnostic for ITER. Nova Photonics has completed a study regarding magnetic field magnitude measurements using a motional Stark effect diagnostic system on ITER. In 2008, we received a Phase I SBIR award from the US DOE OFES for development of a calibration system for an ITER MSE diagnostic. In 2009, we were awarded Phase II of this project.
