Research Scientist Position in Experimental Plasma Physics

Nova Photonics, Inc., a small business engaged in diagnostic development and R&D, is seeking an individual with a Ph.D. in experimental plasma physics. Experience in spectroscopy, optics, and equilibrium reconstruction is desirable. The success applicant will be based in Princeton, NJ, and participate in the physics/data analysis, development, and operation of the motional Stark effect diagnostic that is installed on NSTX-U at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and/or the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) facility located at the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy (KFE) in South Korea. Oppurtunities also exist to participate in the design and development of the MSE diagnostic for ITER. This includes working with RF plasma sources, diagnostic modeling, and prototype testing.

Optical Engineer/Scientist

Nova Photonics, Inc., is looking for a qualified candidate with experience/education in optical sciences/engineering. We seek a candidate who is

  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • In possession of excellent written and oral communication skills.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in several of the following:

  • Design and optimization of optical systems with ZEMAX.
  • Integration of optical design into Solidworks.
  • Optical metrology instrumentation such as Fizeau and white light interferometer.
  • Polarization based optical filters and polarization optics.
  • Electro-optic devics.
  • Optical polishing and fabrication.
  • Laser design and R&D.

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in optical engineering or physics.

Requirements: US Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
